The day I miss having a man in my life, I’ll get one: Amrita Rao
Having acted in a variety of films — from a college romance to a masala entertainer, a biopic and an issue-based subject — Amrita Raois happy that she has now fulfilled one more dream. In her upcoming movie, 'Singh Saab The Great', the actress plays a news channel reporter, a character she has been eager to portray for long now. In a conversation over home-cooked lunch, she talks about her role as a journalist, wanting to do a comedy and her ideal man...
Tell us about your role in Singh Saab The Great? I've been keen to essay a media person for a long time now. So when Anil Sharma, the film's director, offered me a choice of two roles — one of Sunny Deol's wife and the other of a news reporter — I chose the latter. I got a great professional rush by playing this part.
What kind of preparation did you do to ensure the right character portrayal? Before I started shooting, I went through a series of workshops, which included tutorials for the Eastern Uttar Pradesh accent as my character is from that part. I also watched a lot of Hindi news channels to get the language, diction and body language correct. We've tried to keep the styling as realistic as possible because we didn't want it to look like an actress is playing a journalist.
